Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities to detail any steps his Department will take to ensure that registered Housing Associations work with the Housing Executive to maximise the use of medium to long-term voids for temporary accommodation, in line with the recommendation of the Northern Ireland Audit Office.

Answer:

The Housing Executive has already been working proactively with Housing Associations to identify voids for use as temporary accommodation where this is appropriate. I have also met with Housing Associations in relation to void properties. However, the Department will now take time to consider the report’s findings and recommendation concerning voids.
