Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail any engagement her Department is having with supermarkets to reduce their plastic usage.

Answer:

DAERA is the lead department with policy and legislative responsibility for plastics, specifically in relation to Single Use Plastics and Extended Producer Responsibility Schemes. My department has worked closely with DAERA, alongside a coalition of stakeholders including Retail NI, FSB, CBI and others in developing a draft Circular Economy vision for the north that will be an important enabler of the Executive’s Green Growth Strategy.
