Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities why his decision to announce the funding for groups to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence was made in the media rather than in the Assembly Chamber under Standing Order 18A or Standing Order 18B.

Answer:

During Question Time on 31 March 2025, I indicated that I was continuing to explore opportunities within my Department to support organisations participating in the semiquincentennial commemorations, and that I intended to make further announcements in the near future. The announcement was made during a meeting of the US/NI Cultural Working Group.
