Question:
To ask the Minister of Education, following a recommendation from the Marcella Domestic Homicide Review, how he will support the Education Authority to develop domestic abuse awareness training for school safeguarding teams.

Answer:

The Education Authority (EA) has advised that a training webinar on domestic abuse and the impact on children and young people is under development, in direct response to the ‘Marcella Domestic Homicide Review’. This will sit alongside the existing training for school safeguarding teams, which includes specific content in respect of domestic abuse.

My department remains engaged in delivery of key actions as set out in the cross-departmental Domestic and Sexual Abuse Strategy: Action Plan 2024-2031.
