Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities to outline what work his Department is progressing to tackle misogyny and sexism in sport at all levels.

Answer:
In March 2022, my Department launched ‘Active Living’ the Sport and Physical Activity Strategy for Northern Ireland, which includes goals to ensure that sport and physical activity are inclusive, safe, diverse, shared, fun and offers equality of opportunity to participate for all.
The participation of women and girls in sport and physical activity is fundamental to the Strategy, both from a participation and governance perspective. I am committed to ensuring that women and girls feel welcome, valued, supported and protected at every level in the sport sector, from grassroots participation to high performance and leadership. My Department and Sport NI are actively working to break down the barriers that women and girls face within the sector.
As this issue is also an operational matter for Sport NI, I have sought the requested information from the Chief Executive, who has provided me with a response.
Due to the volume of information to be provided I have arranged for the detail to be placed in the Assembly Library.
For any future queries relating to operational matters, you may wish to contact the Sport NI directly. Making direct contact with the ALB will ensure that you receive the information in the shortest possible timeframe and make best use of public resources.
