Question:
To ask the Minister of Finance to detail: (i) when he last raised the need to increase tax-free childcare support with the UK Government; and (ii) the response received.

Answer:

I raised the need for increased support through the Tax-free Childcare Scheme with the Chief Secretary to the Treasury (CST) most recently in April along with other Executive specific issues to be considered as part of the second phase of the Spending Review.

I am meeting the CST on 26 June 2025 at the next Finance: Interministerial Standing Committee which will provide an opportunity to raise this matter again if not addressed within the Spending Review announcement.
