Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail any engagement she has had with the UK Government in relation to protecting properties built after 2009 from flooding, including any response received.

Answer:

My Department engaged with the UK Government when the Flood Re scheme was being established in 2014 to ensure that the North was included.

Flood Re’s 2009 criterion was set by the UK Government and reflected that, by 1st January 2009, planning policy and flood mapping was in place to discourage residential development in flood plains.

There is ongoing engagement between my Department and DEFRA on the Flood Re scheme as required.
