Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities, following the Chancellor of the Exchequer's intention to introduce a 10-year rent settlement, to detail any plans he has to replicate these rent controls and align increases in social housing with Consumer Price Index plus 1 per cent from 2026.

Answer:

Rent setting for Registered Housing Associations (RHAs) lies outside of my remit and it is a matter for individual Housing Association Boards to determine appropriate rent levels and to consider and approve any rent increases.

With regards to rent setting for NIHE, increase requests are considered by my Department and DoF on an annual basis and are subject to evaluation and approval.
