Question:
To ask the Minister of Finance to detail: (i) any performance standards or timeframes which are in place to regulate how long major works should take in leasehold buildings; and (ii) how leaseholders can raise concerns about delays.

Answer:
There are no specific statutory performance standards or timeframes applicable. However, landlords still have legal duties under lease terms, common law principles and, potentially, general contract law. Adherence to health and safety standards, building control regulations and planning approvals may also be relevant.
Leaseholders may raise concerns based on such lease terms or common law duties, and should check their lease carefully, asking for information relating to such work from their landlord or managing agent. If necessary, legal advice should be sought, or alternatively, Housing Rights NI can provide assistance in relation to concerns raised.
