Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to outline any guidance his Department provides to schools on supporting pupils through bereavement and grief.

Answer:

Bereavement is one of many issues that our children and young people may face and demonstrates the importance of schools having a whole school approach to emotional health and wellbeing.

The Education Authority led ‘Being Well Doing Well’ programme is a key part of helping schools develop and improve their approach, culture and ethos to ensure pupils are supported throughout their school years. This programme includes bereavement as part of its learning and development programme.
