To ask the Minister of Education to detail any consideration he has given to the Independent Review of Education recommendation to create a one year course for university graduates leading to the award of a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education in special educational needs.

Answer:

As part of the SEN Reform Agenda, my Department is committed to ensuring that all teachers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively support children with special educational needs.

My officials are working with Initial Teacher Education (ITE) providers to consider the development of an ITE programme focused on special educational needs.
