To ask the Minister of Education to detail the functions of the new Controlled Schools Unit within the Education Authority.

Answer:

Staff in EA's Controlled School Unit will spend time in the Autumn progressing structured engagement with the controlled sector to shape the development of the Unit's structure and work programme. This work will precede the Unit becoming fully operational, which should be the case in early 2026. The work will be initially led by a Programme Director. The main initial function of the CSU will be primarily structured engagement and relationship building. School governance and school improvement linked services will ultimately be part of the functions. Further functions may be added following sector engagement.
