Question:
To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister for an update on the historical clerical child abuse research study.

Answer:

We recognise the devastating impact that clerical child abuse has had on many people. Throughout this process the Junior Ministers have engaged with victims and survivors to hear their stories and their views on what is needed. We are very grateful to all those who have participated in the process and shared their experiences. Work has now completed on three separate pieces of research: one examining records held by faith organisations and statutory agencies; one recording experiences and expectations of victims and survivors; and one examining the safeguarding policies and practices of faith groups. We understand we will shortly receive the research reports and recommendations from the Interdepartmental Working Group. We will take time to reflect on these and carefully consider the next steps.
