Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail what assessment her Department has made of the impact on (i) tourism; and (ii) hospitality businesses in East Londonderry, following recent beach closures such as at Benone Strand, due to toxic algal blooms.

Answer:

Through continued engagement with both businesses and with DAERA officials, Tourism NI is aware of the challenges presented by the recent algal blooms to tourism and hospitality businesses in the affected areas. It will remain a challenge and Tourism NI officials will continue to engage with DAERA colleagues on clear communications and information for visitors and potential mitigating actions.
