Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail what assessment her Department has made of the investment required to upgrade wastewater treatment infrastructure, to reduce nutrient discharges into rivers and coastal waters in East Londonderry.

Answer:
The management of public wastewater infrastructure is anĀ operational matter for NI Water. However, I have sought the requested information from NI Water and have been advised as follows:
During each Price Control, NI Water works closely with the environmental regulator, the NIEA, to agree the priorities for wastewater investment, to deliver water quality improvements, which includes consideration of any capital works upgrades to meet nutrient standards, such as ammonia and phosphorus limits.
NI Water does not record its information by constituency. However, it has identified and set out below, the relevant wastewater schemes in the East Derry area which were identified for investment in the Price Control 21 Final Determination, subject to the availability of funding.
