To ask the Minister of Health to outline his Department's engagement with the PSNI regarding Operation Begrain.
Answer:
Ahead of the formal launch of Operation Begrain on 28 November 2023 officials from my department participated in a PSNI Information Session for External Partners on 22 November 2023. The PSNI hosted a meeting of the External Partnership Forum on 18 June 2024 which two of my officials attended, the purpose of which was to enable the PSNI to provide an update on Operation Begrain and for external partners to share updates on their own respective remits. My officials and health and social care organisations held several discussions with the PSNI leads in 2024 to agree a regional approach to an Information Data Sharing Agreement between the PSNI and Operation Begrain external partners. An Information Sharing Agreement was signed between the Department of Health and PSNI on 11 April 2025. My Department will continue to cooperate fully with the PSNI as it progresses its investigations.
