Question:
To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister to provide their assessment of the most effective way to address issues that require cross-departmental collaboration, such as post-19 special educational needs provision.

Answer:

The management of cross-cutting issues within the Executive will depend on the nature and scope of the issue. In the majority of cases, the department with lead policy responsibility will assume responsibility for co-ordinating the contribution of all relevant departments and producing recommendations for adoption by the Executive. Inter-departmental steering groups may also be established to monitor and report on progress and delivery.
