Question:
To ask the Minister of Health whether his Department will mandate that information given at cervical screening appointments clearly states that the screening does not detect ovarian, or any other gynaecological, cancer.

Answer:
The current public information on cervical screening does not reference other forms of cancer. The Public Health Agency’s (PHA) public facing information and resources for all screening programmes are kept under regular review and are updated as necessary.
The PHA will consider the recent changes made to the information in England and if it is appropriate will incorporate similar messaging locally at the next review of their patient leaflets for the Northern Ireland Cervical Screening Programme.
