Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities to outline any plans, including a timeline, with respect to implementing Article 3(1) of The Activity Centres (Young Persons’ Safety) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.

Answer:

At present there are no plans by my Department with respect to implementing Article 3(1) of The Activity Centres (Young Persons’ Safety) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998.

A Voluntary Accreditation Scheme is in place in Northern Ireland for Adventure Activity Providers, Advernturemark is the recommended accreditation by my Department and Sport NI.

Officials from my Department are engaging with Sport NI and other relevant stakeholders to review the current approach and consider what arrangements may be most appropriate for Northern Ireland going forward.
