Question:
To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister to outline any consideration being given to the need to safeguard our environment as part of the development of the Office of AI & Digital.

Answer:

The Office of AI & Digital has been established to drive innovation in public service delivery, with a strong emphasis on ethical, inclusive, and responsible use of AI technology.

The Office of AI & Digital, part of the Office of Science and Technology, is assessing operational needs for AI adoption and will develop an AI Strategy and Action Plan.

We recognise that safeguarding the environment is integral to responsible innovation and development. As such, environmental considerations and safeguards will be included in the AI Strategy.
