To ask the Minister for the Economy to outline the (i) purpose; (ii) necessary provisions; (iii) financial implications; and (iv) timescale, for the introduction of offshore renewable energy installation legislation.

Answer:

The purpose of offshore renewable energy installation legislation is to establish frameworks for decommissioning, safety zones and rights of navigation within our territorial waters.

The necessary provisions and financial implications will be detailed in a primary bill, which has been temporarily deferred until 2026/27.
