Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to provide an update on the publication of Statutory Guidance on the Reduction and Management of Restrictive Practices in Educational Settings.

Answer:

Draft guidance was shared with the Task and Finish Group and the Departmental Solicitor’s Office (DSO) on 7 July 2025.

A range of feedback was received. This has been used to further refine the draft guidance and officials are currently engaging with DSO with a view to finalising it for my consideration.

Once I have considered the finalised draft guidance, I will determine the next steps to be taken thereafter, including a timescale for publication.
