To ask the Minister of Justice to detail when she will approve the submitted PSNI business case to settle outstanding holiday pay claims for officers.

Answer:

While I cannot give a definitive timeframe at this stage, I am committed to progressing this matter as quickly as possible. My officials are currently considering the PSNI Holiday Pay business case which must satisfy the requisite approvals process, including approval by the Department of Finance (DoF).

Holiday Pay is an exceptional pressure that is wholly unaffordable within existing or future PSNI and DoJ baseline budget. Further discussions will be needed with the Executive and the Department of Finance (DoF) to consider options for funding this exceptional pressure.

Furthermore, Holiday Pay is an issue that has an impact across all departments and, therefore, a solution at Block level will be required.
