Question:
To ask the Minister of Education whether his Department is creating guidance for schools, regarding the sharing of images of children and young people.

Answer:

I do not intend to issue separate guidance to schools on this matter as the existing statutory guidance ‘Safeguarding and Child Protection in Schools’ already outlines the responsibilities of Boards of Governors and schools in safeguarding the welfare of their pupils.

Schools should ensure that any sharing or publication of images of children and young people – including on school websites or social media – is carried out responsibly, with the appropriate permissions in place and in full compliance with their internal e-safety and data protection arrangements.
