Question:
To ask the Minister of Education to detail any steps his Department is taking to prepare schools on preventing and responding to Artificial Intelligence-Generated image exploitation.

Answer:

My department is currently working with education partners to develop guidance for schools on the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence. Alongside this, officials are liaising closely with the Education Authority to ensure that the guidance is published in tandem with the release of AI resources to schools through the Education Information Systems (EdIS) Programme.

Guidance and support on the use of AI and some of the emergent challenges is available to children, young people, their families and schools via the Safer Schools Northern Ireland app and the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland online resource hub.
