Question: To ask the Minister of Education whether changes to the Teaching Appointments Scheme for Controlled Schools requires legislation before being enacted.
Answer:
The Education Authority (EA) is carrying out a review of the Teaching Appointment Scheme for Controlled Schools and consultation with controlled schools, governors and wider stakeholders is on-going. My Department has been advised that EA expect the work on a revised scheme to be completed early in 2026. As the EA consultation process is ongoing and no decisions have been made it is not clear if there will be any proposed amendments to the scheme which will require legislative changes.
