Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities to detail whether an assessment has been made of how hosting part of the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup in 2030, could contribute to community participation, inclusion, and wellbeing.

Answer:

I instructed my officials to engage with Cricket Ireland and the Northern Ireland Civil Service Sports Association regarding their plans to upgrade the cricket ground at Stormont. It is evident that the proposals support the Department’s policy objectives of promoting sport, physical activity and community wellbeing. As with all major projects, the funding request remains subject to the normal business case approval process.
