Question:
To ask the Minister of Health whether osteoporosis will be included as part of the Women’s Health Action Plan.

Answer:
I am aware that women are much more prone to osteoporosis than men, due to a combination of biological, hormonal, and lifestyle factors and particularly after menopause due to hormonal changes. NI Direct provides a useful information source for any person seeking information on osteoporosis at www.nidirect.gov.uk/conditions/osteoporosis which includes advice on prevention and treatment options.
My officials are continuing to actively develop the Women’s Health Action Plan. The plan will not include actions on every health condition faced by women, but it will aim to ensure that women are informed about the risk factors and management of certain conditions throughout the course of their life.
