Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure for an update on the progress of the Ballynahinch Bypass scheme.

Answer:

On 12th March 2025 I announced the progression of the A24 Ballynahinch Bypass scheme with my officials moving forward on the development of the business case and procurement of the scheme.

My officials are undertaking a number of actions to progress the scheme including meeting with landowners, updating surveys and reviewing relevant documents due to the passage of time. This work will contribute to the preparation of the procurement documentation.

As with all projects within the road infrastructure portfolio, and in light of the A5 judgement and my subsequent appeal, I am taking this opportunity to consider its potential impact before determining the next steps for this scheme.
