Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities for an update on Belfast Streets Ahead phase in the north of the city centre

Answer:
My department continues to progress Phase 3 of the Belfast Streets Ahead (BSA) Public Realm programme in the north of the city centre.
The project has, however, been significantly impacted by the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) plans for the next phase of the Belfast Rapid Transit (BRT2) system and by the development of Eastern Transport Plan 2035 (ETP 2035).
My officials are currently liaising with their counterparts in DfI to gain a full understanding of the impacts of BRT2 and ETP 2035 and to explore the potential for joint delivery of BSA Phase 3 alongside BRT2.
Coordinating our approaches could allow both projects to progress in tandem, subject to feasibility and funding, which would minimise nugatory work and disruption for residents, businesses, and road users, while maximising the impact and value of public investment.
There is currently no confirmed timescale for the delivery of BSA Phase 3 in the north of the city centre and this will likely remain the case until discussions with DfI conclude.
