Question:
To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister for an update on the drafting of a new Racial Equality Strategy for 2026 and beyond.

Answer:

Work is actively underway to develop a new Framework for Race Relations beyond 2025, building on the foundations laid by the current Racial Equality Strategy.

Development of the draft Framework has been informed by engagement with a range of stakeholders from the Minority Ethnic sector to ensure it reflects lived experiences.

Engagement is also ongoing with wider society, through a research project. We want to ensure the views and experiences of all in our communities shape the key priorities and interventions in order to achieve the draft Framework’s vision and outcomes.

We hope to consult on the Framework in the coming months when we will welcome feedback on identifying preventative and effective interventions to tackle inequalities and create a more prosperous society for all.
