Question:
To ask the Minister for the Economy for an update on the development of the North South Interconnector.

Answer:

The North South Interconnector is a strategic priority for the Department and essential to securing the North’s energy future. It will strengthen grid reliability, reduce consumer costs, and enable greater integration of renewables.

The project will unlock significant economic opportunities for the North, by supporting clean energy growth, attracting investment, and enhancing regional balance.

Construction in the North began in late 2024, with an estimated completion date of Q4 2031.
