Question:
To ask the Minister for Communities to detail the location of each of the 600 homes being purchased by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for temporary accommodation, broken down by local council area, including the year of purchase or expected purchase.

Answer:

This issue is an operational matter for Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

I have sought the requested information from the Chief Executive, who has advised me as follows:

“The principal considerations in the geographical distribution of these units will include:

Geographical areas where exposure to high-cost temporary accommodation is most prevalent.

The nature of the temporary accommodation client groups (single persons, couples, families).

The availability of suitable property available to purchase that align with the above criteria.

Value for money considerations.

No properties have yet been purchased under this scheme however we estimate a purchasing profile of:

25 Yr1 2025/26,

125 Yr2 2026/27,

225 Yr3 2027/28,

225 Yr4 2028/29”
