To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail any engagement her Department has had, regarding proposed curriculum changes from the Department of Education, given the impact changes could have on skills development.

Answer:

My Department has engaged with the Department of Education on the proposed curriculum changes, recognising the impact changes could have on skills development.

As part of this engagement, officials from my Department met with Lucy Crehan during the course of the Curriculum Review.

Ongoing engagement is supported through the Curriculum and Qualifications Thematic Group, which operates within the joint 14–19 structures. This provides an important forum for collaboration between both Departments on curriculum matters.

In addition, at the recent Cross Departmental Ministerial Meeting with Minister Givan, we discussed the Curriculum Review, including engagement with the newly established Curriculum Taskforce, particularly in relation to issues affecting Further Education.
