Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail (i) any progress her Department has made on the development of the Belfast to Carryduff Greenway, connected to the St Ita’s site; (ii) the timelines for any planned papers or proposals; and (ii) how her Department intends to ensure that the redevelopment of the Carryduff Household Recycling Centre site, is incorporated into the surrounding public realm plans.

Answer:
Greenways are generally council led projects and Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council is leading on the development of the Carryduff Greenway, including the section of the proposed path between the boundary of Cairnshill Park & Ride and Alderwood Hill near St Ita’s primary school.
My Department can provide up to 50% of the capital funding required to support delivery of approved greenway projects, and officials will continue to engage with the Council to support delivery of their active travel priorities as plans advance through the various stages of scheme development. Council is best placed to provide timelines on their planned papers or proposals in relation to this but I can confirm that they have not sought funding in my Department’s latest Greenways grant funding round.
I understand that proposals for redevelopment of Carryduff Household Recycling Centre are currently at Pre-Application Notice stage, and therefore my department has not yet been invited to comment on any proposals. As the proposed public realm scheme is led by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, they are best placed to ensure that the schemes are co-ordinated effectively.
