Question: To ask the Minister for the Economy, given the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget 2025 announcement on reducing energy bills across the UK, to detail (i) when this measure will take effect in Northern Ireland; and (ii) whether she is aware of any obstacles that could delay its implementation, compared with the rest of the UK.
Answer:
The autumn budget outlined measures to reduce household energy bills by funding part of the costs associated with the Renewables Obligation (RO) and by deciding not to renew the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), both of which apply only in Britain. Officials are seeking clarity from British government colleagues on comparability of schemes in the north.
