Question: To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail any roads-related issues that have been raised with her Department, as a result of PSNI investigations into road traffic collisions at the Soldierstown Road A26 junction , including any consideration that has been given to each issue.
Answer:
Road safety is a high priority for my Department, and we are committed to working proactively to make our roads safer and to address the needs of all road users. However, my Department has been operating in a difficult financial environment for a number of years due to underfunding and austerity by the British Government and limited budget resources mean we must prioritise our interventions to those locations deemed most in need. We are not aware of any specific PSNI investigations that have been undertaken at this location, however the Department receives information on personal injury road traffic collisions on an annual basis from the PSNI which is used to help prioritise these interventions to ensure maximum benefit from the limited resources available. Data from the last three years confirms that there have been no recorded personal injury collisions at this junction and it would therefore not be considered for any remedial works.
