To ask the Minister of Health whether his Department has contacted Ofcom in relation to the implementation of the Online Safety Act 2023.

Answer:

The Department of Health sponsors the Executives’ Online Safety Strategy and, as such, I receive regular updates from Ofcom regarding their implementation of the Online Safety Act. As part of this ongoing engagement, I met with Ofcom officials in October 2024 to discuss their work to deliver the requirements of the Act. In addition, at a recent meeting of the Online Safety Strategy Cross-Departmental Implementation Group (CDIG), Bimpe Archer from Ofcom provided members with an update on their ongoing work in this area.
