To ask the Minister of Education to detail whether (i) he; or (ii) his Department, has contacted Ofcom with regards to the implementation of the Online Safety Act 2023.

Answer:

I wrote to the Director of Ofcom in Northern Ireland following the publication of the Ofcom ‘Protection of Children Codes and Guidance’ (May 2025) highlighting the importance of its work in creating a safer life online through the implementation of the Online Safety Act 2023, particularly in relation to children and young people.

My officials continue to engage with Ofcom representatives as part of the work of the Online Safety Strategy Cross Departmental Implementation Group chaired by the Department of Health.
