To ask the Minister of Health for an update on the Women’s Health Action Plan.

Answer:

As I advised in my response to AQW 38113/22-27, I plan to publish the Women's Health Action Plan following completion of the public listening exercise. My Department has helped to fund this important project by Derry Well Women and Queen’s University Belfast who have now completed a women’s health survey and focus groups with harder to reach women. There will be a further round of engagement in partnership with stakeholders and representative organisations during February to share the findings and to identify the priorities and recommendations which will inform the final report to my Department.

The Plan when published will describe the wide range of policy and service developments supporting women's health, what has been achieved to date and what is achievable in the years ahead within current resources. It will also set out how delivery will be overseen and coordinated on an ongoing basis across the range of relevant services and specialties, and in continued partnership with the representative groups who have been instrumental in raising the profile of women's health in Northern Ireland and ensuring that women’s voices and experiences are heard and reflected in the Plan.
