To ask the Minister of Education to detail any monitoring of school preparedness currently taking place in (i) pre-schools; and (ii) primary schools.

Answer:

DE does not assess or monitor 'school preparedness'. The 3+ Review, conducted by Health Visitors in pre-school settings, is designed to assess children's overall development before they enter formal education.

It also helps to identify any developmental needs; facilitating early provision of support where required or onward referral if needed and assists the pre-school in planning for the whole class, or for individual children.
