Question:
To ask the Minister of Health for an update on any artificial intelligence improvements in relation to stroke services, the last five years.

Answer:

Artificial Intelligence to assist in the interpretation of scans and the targeting of treatment including thrombectomy and thrombolysis was a Reshaping Stroke Care, Stroke Action Plan (2022) priority.

I can confirm that Artificial Intelligence software has also been rolled out in all stroke receiving hospitals to support clinical decision-making. This has been funded recurrently from savings made elsewhere in stroke services.
