To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail any funding her Department has allocated to universities and university colleges for student hardship support, for each year, over the last five years.
Answer:
The funding allocated in respect of financial hardship faced by students in local higher education institutions in each of the last five complete financial years, was as follows: Financial Year | Funding | 2020/21 | £5.6m | 2021/22 | £10.3m | 2022/23 | £6.3m | 2023/24 | £3.8m | 2024/25 | £2.8m |
Financial years 2020/21 to 2023/24 include additional targeted allocations in respect of the financial impact of Covid-19 and the subsequent cost of living crisis on students.
