Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail any urgent action her Department will take, to ensure flooding underneath the railway bridge on the A26 Moira roundabout, does not continue to occur.

Answer:
Storm Chandra was a multi-weather event which brought wind and unprecedented rain, causing widespread flooding issues. Alongside our multi-agency partners, officials worked in difficult conditions to respond and minimise disruption.
I am advised that the road gullies at the Moira Roundabout on the A26 drain into open channels situated on adjacent land. At the start of January 2026, the gullies and open drains within the vicinity of this location were cleaned however due to heavy rainfall in the weeks leading up to Storm Chandra, the River Lagan was at a very high level already, which contributed to the flooding.
Inspection and maintenance of gullies and drains are critical components of rural infrastructure management and officials will continue to monitor these and arrange regular cleaning to mitigate the effects of such weather events.
