To ask the Minister of Health (i) for an update on the refurbishment and use of Chestnut Grove in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, in the last four years; and (ii) whether this site has been considered for use for respite services.

Answer:

The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust has advised that:

Chestnut Grove is a residential facility used to deliver short term bed-based rehabilitation. It is currently undergoing a programme of major refurbishment works which commenced in December 2024 and will complete in December 2026.

This facility has not been considered for provision of respite services. The facility has been used as an intermediate care facility since 2015 where patients discharging from acute hospital sites receive a period of rehabilitation before discharging to their home.
