Question: To ask the Minister of Finance to detail any alternative relief mechanisms that will apply to businesses whose draft NI Reval2026 outcomes included relief for proven flood-damage.
Answer:
A revaluation is a statutory process that resets rateable values to a fixed valuation date. Reval2026 was estimating rental values as at 1 April 2024, rather than the current statutory tone date of 1 October 2021. The draft figures simply reflected the rental evidence of property gathered during the exercise. As the Member will be aware, I announced on 29 January that I was stopping the Reval 2026 process. I would direct the Member to my oral statement to the Assembly: Finance Minister Oral Statement - Reval 2026 | Department of Finance
