Question:
To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister to detail when they will publish the AI strategy.

Answer:

The Office of AI & Digital is leading the development of an ethical and forwardlooking cross-government AI Strategy that has been underpinned by extensive consultation.

A dedicated Task and Finish Group, bringing together stakeholders from government, industry, and universities, laid the foundations by examining the key pillars of Data, Governance, Infrastructure, Skills, Public Sector Transformation and Citizens, this group helped shape a shared vision for responsible AI adoption in the public sector.

An external reference panel was also convened to provide independent challenge and expert feedback throughout strategy development, ensuring the approach is robust, ethical, and aligned with best practice.

Following a thorough review of the initial draft AI Strategy by industry partners and NI Departments in December 2025, work has been carried out to formulate a revised iteration of the Strategy which is now subject to Executive approvals and a public consultation.
