To ask the Minister of Education to detail (i) the current membership of the working group on Restrictive Practices; and (ii) the number of times the group has met, in the last two years.

Answer:

(i) Membership of the Restraint and Seclusion Working Group is as follows:

The Department of Education

The Education & Training Inspectorate (ETI)

The Department of Health

The Department of Justice

The Education Authority

The Public Health Agency

(ii) In the last two years the Restraint and Seclusion Working Group met on the following dates to receive updates on the progress to develop draft guidance:

15 April 2025 – Joint meeting with the Restraint and Seclusion Reference Group (Neither the Department of Health nor the Public Health Agency attended this meeting)

10 May 2024 – Joint meeting with the Restraint and Seclusion Reference Group
