Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure for an update on any work her Department has carried out since November 2024 on residents' parking schemes, in the Belfast City local council area.

Answer:

I have considered my officials’ recommendations in relation to residents’ parking schemes that will provide a streamlined approach for considering, assessing and prioritising requests for schemes going forward, including those within the Belfast City local council area.

On the 10th of March I announced the criteria that will be applied to these schemes, and that applications will open in April 2026.

I remain committed to continuing to develop the schemes where work has already commenced such as the Iveagh area of Belfast where my officials are currently completing the preparatory work necessary to undertake a formal consultation, and for my Department to give consideration to a scheme that could address the emerging on-street parking pressures in the vicinity of the Ulster University campus in Belfast.
