Question:
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail whether her Department will be amending its stakeholder communication around active travel, in the light of a recent Northern Ireland Audit Office report on active travel in Northern Ireland.

Answer:

I welcome the publication of the NIAO report on active travel which recognised that the introduction of the Climate Change Act (NI) 2022 significantly changed the active travel landscape in the North.

My Department has accepted all recommendations contained within the report and the NIAO were formally notified of this on 27 November 2025. A copy of the Department’s response to each of the recommendations, including target implementation dates in 2026/27, has been deposited in the Assembly library.
